why were the info for different general fractions removed? They were quite informative.. Evil Deep Blue 06:55, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
Some one should add the new units introduced to the game —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.144.116.166 (talk • contribs)

How do you get the other generals? Is it something to do with other difficulty levels? --The1exile 10:03, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
No. See, the boss generals were originally to be added to the game for the Generals Challenge portion and possibly for the campaigns, but due to some reasons unknown, EA only left Leang in and a reference to Deathstrike (for the first GLA mission), and Ironsides was completely removed from the plot. I would like to also raise the point that the Boss Generals section should be revamped or placed in its own section as the Boss Generals aren't exactly part of the game and are only accessible through a mod. So where can you find this mod to get the three boss generals because ihave downloaded the latest version but still can't get them! i have v1.04. so where did you find them
- Version 1.04 is not a mod, its a patch. I am not sure what mod is referred to, but I have only played Reborn. --The1exile 16:23, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
So what do i ahve to do to get these boss generals is there a code we can change in the text to play as them.
- Download the Pro:Gen mod from www.deezire.net. It lets you play as them in both Skirmish and Generals' Challenge and against all of them in the Generals Challenge (though only one each time you play Generals' Challenge). It also unlocks a huge variety of unused features, such as new units, buildings, powers, and upgrades for all of the generals/sides, unused unit voices and portraits, and a new POW game element. It also lets you play against Generals Fai and Juhziz in the Generals' Challenge, as you couldn't before. It makes some original modifications and improvements as well. - Conrad Devonshire 02:26, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
I have a small concern about the mod. Will you still be able to play online once you mod the game? I have had friends who were banned from playing online after modding certain games. Wiseman45 16:31 28 March 2006

I think there should be a section about the MOD for this game. It doesn't have to be long, but it should let readers know that there are mods circling around the community and the tools used to make them.

Remove Ironside.[edit]
The Fact is that no two boss-general modifications portray Ironside, Deaethstrike, or Leang with the same technology is enough to remove them from this page. Deathstrike and Leang have minor roles in the single-player, but Ironside has been completely removed from the official game (save what was left in the coding) so he has no place in this article in my opinion.-JYM2
- I agree. Does anyone disagree? He's not part of the official game. This shouldn't really be a page for talking about mod unlockables. He could receive a brief mention elsewhere for being cut. Makron1n 14:11, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
- While I agree that he isn't part of the official game and should be removed, I think there should still be at least one line, like 'In addition to Deathstrike and Leang, a boss U.S.A. general named Ironside was included in early versions of the game. However, he was ultimately cut from the final version.' And you're forgetting- there is at least one mention to Ironside in-game, though he isn't labelled as such. His bio picture is seen in the start-up cinematic (the one that looks like a naval officer). I don't disagree that he should be removed, but he isn't completely gone from the game.--AK-17 17:47, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- Right, I'm going to brutally edit the Ironside bit now..Makron1n 23:07, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Removed 'Bad Rating'[edit]
I took the liberty of removing the Bad Rating section as it was lacking in grammar, spelling and generally without discernable meaning.--89.14.186.40 01:19, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
All quotes removed[edit]
To spearhead cleanup of this article. I made another short-lived article titled Factions in Command & Conquer: Generals - Zero Hour, deleted because of its irregularity. This article focused far more on the individual factions than that deleted article. Don't get me wrong, we have a lot of useful information. I just think we may have added too much. -JYM2
Cleaning up the army..[edit]
I've started pruning the game guide information from the Generals descriptions. Well, I say pruning, but since each description is 98% game guide detailing different units and suggesting strategies for dealing with them, it's more a case of slash-and-burn. The Kinslayer 09:16, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
About Zero Hour[edit]
Zero Hour is extremely buggy, and release was rushed. Plus many aspects that should've been in the original game were shoved in. Its a nice expansion to the game but it was never cleaned up. Typical of EA. AllStarZ 01:56, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Incorrect capitalization, spelling errors, SAGE trashing[edit]
Could someone fix the paragraph 'SAGE Improvment'
Command & Conquer: Generals - Zero Hour's SAGE Engine received a few tweaks while in development, The Game runs more efficiently compared to 'Command & Conquer: Generals'. The Particle System was 'optimized' to provide 'SOMEWHAT' smoother gameplay, The Developers also added a heat distortion effect system for the Particle Effects Engine, They added a few other nifty features.
However, The same problem of the original Generals SAGE was not fixed in the Optimized SAGE, Like the Collision Engine bug where tanks or infantries go THROUGH Each other, The Pathfind Engine where unit's usually get stuck, Random missile flight paths Where missiles usually skid to the terrain, etc.'
The units do get stuck Italic textsometimesItalic text during the gameplay, but that's more of exception than a rule, typically related to bad map design instead. 'They added a few other nifty features' does not convey any information whatsoever. The collision detection is a 'bug' that actually enhances the gameplay, because otherways disproportionally sized units would block each others routes all the time. You can position units between terrain or some other structure for tactical advantage.
There are sure are other problems in the game, including frequent lost multiplayer synch, unability to save or pause multiplayer games and airplanes assigned to area guard just flying in a circle when being shot, not attacking back or retreating..
Mismatches are hardly frequent, usually only happen when exploited by cheaters. Having the ability to save or pause multiplayer games is simply pointless, and the reaction of air units in guard mode is based entirely on what the player does, not because of bad design.
You obviously don't play the game, or you're some air headed developer that has no freaking idea how bad the coding in this game is. A recent LAN party I was at, each player had a dual core Athlon X2 6000, and 2 GB of RAM, with one person having an 8800 GTS, 8800 GT and a Radeon X1950Pro. We get into the game and it mismatches 10 seconds into the game before anyone can finish their first building. This game is crap! 75.163.142.132 (talk) 11:50, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Dr. Thrax[edit]
I removed most of the info about 'Dr. Thrax' and 'prince Kassad' because they had spoilers in a non-spoiler section. Since I haven't played the game, I can't replace them with other pertinent info, so could someone else? Im.a.lumberjack 20:53, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Game mods[edit]
I noticed that the section about game mods was removed. While the reason is valid (link spam), the general content of the game modification section seemed (at least to me) encyclopedic. Am I not noticing something that I should?

We don't need to specify a link to particular mod, but the article should mention that this game is 'modable' and there's a modding community. --frankyz--5/31/2007
In-game bugs[edit]
This game is infamous for its extreme bugs. Shouldn't someone add to this article the bugs that exist? (Primarily the SCUD bug)
- If you know of any bugs that exist in the latest version (1.04?), feel free to add a section mentioning them. - KingRaptor 10:12, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
As far as I know, all of the bugs are now gone. I have version 1.04, and the only bugs I've noticed were in some downloaded maps, which isn't a flaw in the game itself. --Mathew Williams 11:28, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Raptor goof[edit]
This is a goof because the F-22 is a stealth jet in real life, but is not portrayed as stealth in the game. If you disagree, reply below instead of re-removing the goof from the article.

--FastLizard4 (Talk|Contribs) 23:55, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
- the way stealth work in the game is wrong anyway, if we get technical with F22 reallife vs F22 ingame, it going to be a nightmare explaining all the unit that are wrong, like the chinese MBT actually has a western 'box' type turret instead of a rounded soviet based ones. or the fact that helix is shorter and is used as a navy helicopter for missile direction and anti submarine operations. unless you are willing to compare every single unit, there is no reason why F22 should get 'special treatment' and highlight. Akinkhoo (talk) 15:34, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- These aren't goofs. The game is supposed to be balanced, not realistic. 72.202.208.72 (talk) 18:22, 10 February 2015 (UTC)
Super Generals[edit]
Isnt there a mod called C&C Generals Zero Hour Reborn where you get to play as the Boss Generals like Genral Deathstrike or General Ironside? And also some other cool things like naval ships and the ion cannon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.73.26.76 (talk) 08:32, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
About the names of 2 Chinese generals in ZeroHour[edit]
about 'ta hun kwai', 'tsing shi tao', the info of their chinese name meaning totally nonsense afaik. I m Chinese and C&C fan, i played alot of ccg/zh. for zh, i tracked it since its first news, so far never read anything about the meaning of these 2 names, no from EAP/EALA official nor EA taiwan souces(Chinese version released in Taiwan). as i know, these 2 names just names. and more important, the guess of meaning most probably wrong, the reason is simple, these names are Wade-Giles, not Hanyu Pinyu, so how can u read it as pinyin style? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.186.9.4 (talk) 14:14, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Thank you kindly for the correction..while it was in your language..
Hi I am the ppl who started this topic, I raise this question because the information was untrusted, and I gave out the reason. Glad that some authur agreed with me and removed that (I didnt make changet at that time). But now I check this page and find out that these 2 fake declaration appeared again (not in origional form though). This time I edit out that: 1 sentence about General Kwai also 2 words about General Tao. For someone who added in: wikipedia should contains only trusted information rather than self made jokes. If u really hav reliable source -- which I seriously doubt that, please post. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.186.12.11 (talk) 17:51, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Since someone keep adding his own jokes in, let the official translation speak:http://generals.ea.com.tw/content.asp?src=zerohour/china/generalsif u really want a meaning, Ta hun kwai means 'fat guy' in official web site..I dont want to add this to wipipedia though, because many Asian game players know that EA taiwan seldom produce good translation. So, keep it meaningless as it is meaningless, may it is the best —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.186.12.213 (talk) 11:26, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
No one cares about the profiles.[edit]
The characters themselves are extremely, extremely minor in Zero Hour, with the exception of Thrax and Kassad because of their roles in the campaigns. The only thing that sets these 9 factions apart is their armies and style of play. Otherwise, they're all just bad AI with attitudes in the Generals Challenge. The information that's been provided in this article about them is mostly copypaste from the booklet PDFs, when this article was supposed to be about a game that never uses this information.
This article should be about the game, not the instruction booklet. If the characters were worth this level of detail, they'd be granted it, but the only thing worth mentioning about this particular game's characters are their specialization and their significant differences from the other armies. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.251.53.196 (talk) 19:04, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Characters Mod[edit]
Generals in Zero Hour Reborn Mod v5 The Last Stand;
THere is a list for that.
If I am reading this correctly, this page is revealing info on a Mod for the game, which shouldn't be there.
Modifications section?[edit]
I can understand mentioning it, however designating a whole section to it seems a bit excessive to me. Especially since the section encompasses two sentences that do nothing but list a bunch of modifications for the game. Unless there is a good reason not to, I'll try to incorporate it into the rest of the article within the next few days. Feel free to speak up if you have a better idea. :) Bvlax2005 (talk) 10:40, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Upgrades units section[edit]
This section seems to be unnessary in the article. It has already been mentioned in the characters section what units have been modified, so I will remove it soon. --QueenCake (talk) 19:06, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Best Quote Evar[edit]
'A common problem includes not being able to connect to anything ever at all times of the day.'Lol^^ funniest wikipedia quote i have yet to read, and so true.
Somebody should mention that this game is probably the 1337est game that has existed. Nobody cared about single-player mode or the generals' biographies; instead the intensity and enthusiasm of the online player community is what really made this game noteworthy.
This game now serves as the archetype of a good RTS because of the strategy and skill involved in each match. Players are either pr0 or n00b.
Also the popular online video series 'Pure Pwnage' (where the quote 'BOOM, Headshot!' came from) was based originally on this game.

What's with the mod list?[edit]
Why do we need a list of mods where there's two reborns, a bunch of unmade and probably won't be made pages on mods and a entire catagory comparing real-life units and in-game ones? There's also a dispropotionaly wrong comparisons (Tunguskas to Emperror Overlords) and sentences about Reborn.
Oh and the spelling and grammar sucks. 116.48.70.9 (talk) 16:02, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
horrible EA support and tons of bugs[edit]
Shouldnt there be mentioned that EA stopped the support very soon and that tons of bugs and server shut-downs made it hardly possible to play for example there's no way to play 4v4 anymore. EA's strategy to make consumers change to the new command and conquer game? Kampy (talk) 13:12, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

No mention of mods?[edit]
The modding community for this game is very active. Just look at the ModDB website.
While I don't think any game modifications should be specifically listed, the article should, at the very least, mention that there are a large number of extensive 3rd party game modifications. This game's huge modding community is one of its defining characteristics now, and is worth mentioning in the article. Why was the section deleted before?

Command and Conquer: Generals – Zero Hour is the expansion pack for the 2003 video game Command & Conquer: Generals. Zero Hour added several new abilities and units to each side, and a new mode of play called Generals' Challenge, along with a lot more changes, new features and bug/glitch fixes.
- 2Plot
- 3Gameplay
Background[edit]
Zero Hour also contains 3 new campaigns of five missions each, one for each side, with their chronological order being USA first, GLA second, and China last. Unlike the previous campaigns, which were noted by Command and Conquer fans for not having full motion video cinematic sequences during mission briefing, the Zero Hour campaigns return to that Command and Conquer tradition, each showing a live-action video of a news reporter of the respective side giving details about the situation and instructions for what to do behind the current mission. The plot behind the Zero Hour campaigns picks up where it left off at the end of the previous campaigns.
Plot[edit]
USA[edit]
The beginning of the US campaign relates to the GLA's success in the previous game. The GLA uses the Baikonur Cosmodrome to fire a toxin warhead at a US naval base in Northern Europe, prompting the US to respond before another missile can be fired. A Chinese assault on the base had previously failed, so the US uses the powerful Chinese arsenal to overrun and destroy the missile silo using a B-2 Bomber. The US then tasks itself with watching over the relief effort by the United Nations in Mogadishu, however GLA incursions make the relief mission difficult. A US carrier group in the region provides aerial cover as US forces storm a secret GLA base, unintentionally discovering documents relating to 'Dr. Thrax', a GLA General who through almost unlimited funds in Iran plans to develop Anthrax Gamma Toxins. The USA responds by invading the oil fields funding the program, but it is soon learnt that Dr. Thrax has already developed the agent and plans to fire missiles loaded with the toxin at major US cities. A US led assault on Dr. Thrax's complex, supported by disillusioned GLA separatists, allows the US to capture the missile sites before they can be launched. It is also implied that Dr. Thrax was killed in the assault.
GLA[edit]
The start of the GLA campaign begins with Dr. Thrax's second in command (it is implied that the player acts as this person) being pursued by the Americans through an unknown city in the Middle East. Despite intense Tomahawk bombardment by the Americans, the General manages to evade the American pursuers and escapes from the area in a plane. With the whereabouts of Dr. Thrax still unknown, the GLA command is in complete disarray resulting in several splinter cells being formed to seize power. One such General, Prince Kassad uses stealth technology to which is vital to the GLA's war effort. Reluctant to share, the GLA loyalists attack Kassad's base in Egypt, acquiring the stealth technology and killing Kassad in the process. Now equipped with new technology, the GLA launches a series of covert operations in the Mediterranean, aimed at destroying the US fleet based there, including the USS Ronald Reagan, a powerful super carrier. The GLA remarkably achieves this feat by using a captured Particle Cannon to sink the carrier. Shaken by the decisive victory, rumors begin to spread that the US is unwilling to continue its war against the GLA and will begin pulling troops from its bases in Europe. The GLA seize this chance and land commandos on the US West Coast to steal toxins and US Army equipment from inside America. Jarmen Kell leads the attack, and ultimately succeeds in forcing the bulk of US forces based in Europe to defend the homeland. The GLA once again seizes at the chance of a weaker American presence in Europe, and launches an assault on US Central Command Base in Stuttgart using captured Chinese and American weaponry. The assault succeeds, and ushers in the period of GLA control over Europe.
China[edit]
Embarrassed by the GLA's use of Chinese weaponry, the Chinese respond by deploying nuclear weapons against the terrorists in Europe. Survivors of the nuclear attack at Stuttgart prompt the Chinese to remove the GLA threat and liberate Europe in the process. But as the Chinese mobilize in Europe, a massive GLA assault against a nuclear reactor complex near Yencheng almost results in another GLA incursion inside China's borders. The attack is thwarted, the Chinese having successfully secured their borders once more. Determined to eradicate the GLA in Europe, the Chinese begin the counter-offensive in Germany, but international opinion of the Chinese will determine how well they will be received, so restraint is placed upon the Chinese to not deploy their nuclear weapons here. The city of Coburg is heavily defended by the GLA, but the Chinese resolve manages to push back the defenders, ultimately wiping out the GLA in the region, as well as allowing European opinion towards the Chinese to skyrocket. After taking serious losses to the Chinese, the GLA begins a mass withdrawal from Europe, but part of the route will pass a PLA base in Halberstadt, which is outfitted to intercept the retreating forces. Having lost almost all of its forces present in Europe, the GLA has but one last stronghold based in Hamburg. The Americans manage to rally enough forces to attack the base, but the GLA ambushes the American base, capturing several pieces of US hardware that will be put to use to halt the Chinese juggernaut. The Chinese manage to acquire US technology themselves, and push towards the heavily fortified GLA base. After heavy fighting, resulting in massive casualties on both sides, the Chinese emerge victorious and takes its place as the world's sole superpower. Meanwhile, it is implied that after the war, America adopts a policy of isolationism.
Gameplay[edit]
In addition to the three factions from the vanilla game, three playable generals have been added to each faction, each with his or her strengths and weaknesses, as well as unique units and/or modifications to the standard arsenal.
Generals' Challenge[edit]
In this mode, the player takes on the identity of one of the nine generals and battles other generals one by one, ultimately confronting a powerful boss general who utilizes technology from all three factions. This game mode is a median between the campaign and skirmish game modes, as in a general challenge the game starts unevenly with your enemy base already built, however, there are no other objectives rather than destroying all of the opponent's buildings to win.
Online play[edit]
Custom games can have up to eight players playing in one online game. Players can also set-up LAN games, with the number of players allowed depending on the speed of the host's Internet connection (modem, router, etc.)
